Venue History

Known by locals as “Boysville” the property was originally built by John Donoghue as his family residence and dry goods store. Over the years the property has seen many owners and many uses.In 1901 the first extension to the property was completed. It consisted of a kitchen and scullery (now known affectionately as the Snug Bar).

In the late 1980s, after years of neglect, the house was saved from dereliction. The Draper family spent the next decade painstakingly restoring the property to its former glory. In 2001, the property started a new life offering accommodation for all to enjoy.

Currently, the Old Stone House is owned by John and Debbie and managed by their daughter, Rachael. John has spent a lot of time maintaining the gardens and adding his touch to it by creating new areas, such as the Japanese-inspired garden, the formal garden, and the fern gully.

Originally built in 1861, the house celebrated its 155th anniversary in 2016.
