Intimate Sydney Elopement
We are very excited to share this beautiful intimate Sydney elopement with you. It was photographed by Cavanagh Photography and took place on the North Sydney side of the city.
Kirsty & Matt just wanted a very simple and no fuss marriage ceremony in Sydney with just their very closest family and friends. They had a total of twelve people at their elopement. It was a beautiful, intimate elopement in the middle of Sydney.
Sydney Elopement
The ceremony took place at Watt Park, which is a secluded park located at Lavender Bay on the northern side of Sydney. Because it was a small elopement, the park was free to use for a marriage ceremony. Which is an amazing benefit for elopements, thanks to the North Sydney Council. Larger weddings would have to make a booking and pay for a permit.
These small park wedding ceremonies are a much better alternative for couples than a registry wedding. You get to have your elopement ceremony outdoors in nature, in a local park and you get to take beautiful photos around the area afterwards.

Kirsty got ready in the nearby hotel, Rydges North Sydney, then it was just a quick ride in an Uber to get to Watt Park where Matt was waiting. The ceremony took place under a huge fig tree and was a very simple, quick marriage ceremony.
After the ceremony, family photos were taken and then Kirsty and Matt had some wedding & elopement photos taken around Lavender Bay and the foreshore area. Lavender Bay is a beautiful area for elopements and for photography as there are lots of little park, paths and locations all in a very short walk.
The photos finished up at sunset and then it was off to a local restaurant with the family for a small reception dinner together.
Final Elopement Thoughts
This beautiful elopement in Sydney really shows how you don’t really need much to have an intimate and beautiful wedding or elopement. You don’t need 300 people to party with. You don’t need to spend $40,000 on your wedding and you don’t need to plan it for two years.
With elopements you can get married right now. Have your very closest family and friends with you and you can start your new life together sooner rather than later.
These guys just paid for a few main things. A celebrant, wedding attire, photographer and a small wedding venue for their reception dinner. You actually don’t need much to have a meaningful ceremony and a beautiful elopement experience. And we hope this Intimate Sydney Elopement has shown you what is possible and how little you actually need.
