Vintage Inspired Engagement
Today I am excited to share Katrina and Charlie’s vintage-inspired engagement shoot, set against the charming backdrop of Newtown. This shoot was photography by the brilliant Rachel Gutierrez.
This is what Katrina had to say about Rachel Gutierrez…. “Rachel made us feel instantly at ease. Charlie and I hadn’t had professional photos together before, but we quickly felt comfortable under Rachel’s direction. We feel she took the time to get to know our likes and dislikes, both leading up to the shoot and during. It was hard to narrow down our favourites as we love every single picture from the shoot. We truly feel she captured our essence, which sounds incredibly cliché but there is no other way to describe it. She is also just a wonderful, bright and kind soul, and this shines through in all her work.”
Katrina & Charlie have future elopement plans… “We’re having an elopement ceremony so we can celebrate the event over two days and at two very different venues. This gives us more photo ops and memories to cherish, plus it was hard to choose between them and they were too far apart to manage in one day. We also wanted our closest family and friends at the ceremony in order for it to feel intimate, with a big party the following night with extended family and friends.”
“The shoot in Newtown was such a great representation of both of our interests. For example, opportunistically having our portraits at the kitchy pub with pinball machines, and the antique market playing jazz music are true reflections of activities we would on any given day. We loved our engagement shoot and can’t wait see how our wedding photos will look too.”
“My ring is a “Rhapsody” with a Morganite centre stone by Heidi Gibson. I had followed Heidi for years before Charlie and I even met, so it was a no-brainer for me to steer him in that direction when the time came to discuss Engagement rings. I love her Art Deco inspired modern pieces. I also loved the reason for starting her business, designing the unique pieces after her own traditional solitaire engagement ring was recovered from a house fire and needed to be re-set.”
“The stunning peach-coloured dress is by Lady De Couture. It is a handmade piece by the California-based designer who creates vintage inspired outfits that celebrate all body types and every silhouette. I bought it specifically with our Engagement shoot in mind, and I couldn’t be happier with the resulting photos Rachel captured. I felt like a golden-era movie star and wish I never had to take it off.”
“The white dress is a fun and feminine piece by online fashion retailer Showpo. It’s part of their affordable bridal and formal range. I wanted an outfit change and something that I would get plenty of use out of in the future. This dress hit the nail on the head, it was comfortable and light on the day, and I’ve since worn it on multiple occasions.”
